A few more grains than the 7mm Rem, sounds a lot like the 7mm Weatherby mag..

.300 Win Mag brass is plentiful and inexpensive. One pass through the die and you have a 7mm Mashburn case. Not bad.

When I was a kid you could buy ammo at any service station here in the West. 30.06 was always available. The 7mm Mashburn Super Mag definitely would forfeit that advantage.

But I suspect that in a pinch you perhaps could shoot 7 mm Rem Mag in the same chamber. Maybe get four inch groups, but I bet it would work. Has anybody tried it? Does anybody think that would be dangerous?

Maybe that would be Ok. Remember, until about 1950 the Weatherby rifle had .75 inch of free-bore. Then they reduced it to (only) .5 inch. The shoulder would take quite a jump forward. Like a fire forming load!
