I was wondering if anyone else would be interested/excited to see Hornady put out a 185 or heavier 7mm eldx bullet? Personally I would love to see a 190gr eldx bullet from them.

Maybe if we make enough noise we can get them to make it!

Seems like Hornady is more about producing bullets that can be fired in most, of not all, factory rifles. What we've seen with the 195 Berger is that it doesn't offer any practical advantage over a 180 for guys with factory spec chambers.

Yea but what's the fun in a factory gun or chamber! It's funny because maybe a round nose 175 was all that was available in the recent past so i think the difference is innovation. I would like to see hornady step outside the box a little more.

The ELD-M 180 has a better BC than the 195 Berger.

Uhhh kind of. But not really. When you dig into how hornady calculates their bc's you notice you have to lower it quite a bit as their bc numbers are based on a "200yd bc" where berger states their bc numbers for long range shooting. Once you dig s little deeper you notice that if you want to "shoot past 600 yards" you need to use th lower bc numbers. Still impressive but the 180 eld-m is not recommended for hunting like the berger 195's hence why I wanted to see a heavier offering in the eld-x line.

Hornady says to use the mach 1.75 numbers for longer than 600 yards. See the pics below strait off the hornady website.

The M's work like a berger when shot at critters, they're very close in BC, I just don't see them making a ELD-X heavier than the 175. Maybe they will, I could be wrong.

I'd buy some ELD-X bullets if longer/heavier than the 175's after reading about the issues on game with the Berger 195's.
I'm looking for a longer range bullet for elk with high BC to reduce wind drift.
The Hammer Hunters in 177 look impressive. Haven't heard any reports yet for terminal performance on big game. Their G7 BC is .313 (estimated) and they recommend an 8 twist even though they are longer bullets than the EOL 195's.
