We've killed about 2 dozen elk from various 7mm's and 160 grain Nosler Partitions.
We've also killed a couple of dozen with various Barnes 120 X bullets (X, TSX, TTSX).
The 120 performs at least as well as the 160's if not better. We have broken shoulder and femurs with the 120's from every conceivable angle. We prefer to hit at least one shoulder with the 120's, entry if possible. Then you have to add in the other species of animals. We've never had a wounded animal.
It actually makes sense since recovered 120 Barnes weigh 15-20% more then recovered 160 Partitions. Or about the equivalent of a 185 gr Partition….or a 240 grain traditional cup n core!
