7 SAUM feeding issues

I had a 7 SAUM barrel spun up on a Japanese made Weatherby mkV that was originally chambered in 257wby. I am shooting 168gr Berger classic hunters seated long, the first round generally chambers fine if I run the bolt slow, but the second always ramps the bullet up into the top of the barrel face. I have the same issue with the 257 follower & box and a 340 wby follower with a 300 wby box. I've gone so far as to epoxy up and try various profiles on a follower.
the rifle itself has sentimental value and shoots phenomenally or I would have started over from scratch long ago.
Thanks in advance.

I haven't done a SAUM on a Weatherby action. On a 700 moving from a belted magnum to the fatter UM case you must use the window cut box/magazine. Some actions take mods to the action rail too, minor but there.

Defiance for instance has a long action magnum for the belted cartridges and PRC's but a different action for the Ultramags. Feed rails only difference. HTH's

Can you post a video? Really watching to make sure the follower isn't collapsing under the back of the case as your feeding, that'll point them up and make sure the feed ramp isn't causing issues. It's been awhile since I did one of these in a Weatherby but a Rem you have to open the back side of the box and cut the top sides, mod the follower, open the ramp and open the back of the rails to go from a mag to saum.
