Anyone have a good starting charge for 160 CX's in a 7 SAUM, with H1000, H4831SC, Magpro, STAB HD, Retumbo or any other appropriate powder (not R26 as I have never seen it). H1000 tends to be good to me. I have a Hawkins Hunter mag with extended COL, so I will be pushing around 2.95 COL. 24" CarbonSix barrel on a REM 700 SA I recently trued up. Thanks in advance.

Hello, I have been trying to find out the same information. Were you able to find out anything? I was slightly concerned with case capacity. I was hoping to use H1000.

So the most accurate load I got was at 61.0gr of H1000, COL of 2.94". Velocity at 2870 FPS and SD's at around 8 FPS. Brass is ADG. Groups around 0.75". I have yet to try any other powders as it was pretty good to me. I did go up to 62.0gr with no pressure signs. It was starting to compress the powder though.

Do you have Hornady's data.?
I can send it if not

Might want to check with Longtine88 even though he gravitates to the heavies. I shoot 160AB's and 143HH's in my 7SAUM but it's an old school Model 7 with a slower twist which is fine with me as I am a SouthEastern USA whitetail hunter. Retumbo too slow. I use RL23 and RL26 but H4831sc is a good option. Sacrifice a little fps but accuracy should be good. I have no experience with CX but shoot HH's in a mono.

Question on 7saum.
Hodgon load data shows 63-67 gr for h1000 using 160gr NP. Anybody try this. Seems a lot. I'm thinking starting lower and working up.
Thoughts on this load data.

My COL will be longer than sammi. My freebore is .220

Thanks

67gr might not even fit in the case. Start at 61.0gr maybe. I use 64.5 of Retumbo with my 175 ABLR but it crushes a tiny bit of powder.

You'll find things along the lines of rl23, 4831sc, or h4350 will probably be a better option with 160 weight class bullets. I run 23 with 180, little slow but unbelievable accuracy

I have not shot 160CX's out of my 7mm SAUM but I have shot 160 Barnes TTSX using RL-22. I have loaded RL-19 &22, H1000 and IMR-7828. All have shot well with bullets from 140 grains up to 180 grain Bergers. By far the most accurate loads that I have developed all used IMR-7828. This powder and 168 grain Berger match have shot one hole groups. My load with the 168 grain bullets is 59.6 grains of IMR-7828. This is not a max load. If I were to load 160CX I would start at 55 grains of IMR-7828 and work up.
