I bouht 8lbs of 7828 sc the other day! I hope it works out! At least you can find it! To tell the truth avalibility is why I bought it!

That's why I switched to it, as well. I did a bunch of research, and everything came back positive, and my store had it sitting on the shelves when they didn't have anything else I needed. Best thing I ever did was make the switch from H1000 to 7828 SSC. Now I have several pounds of unopened H1000 sitting here....Not sure what to do with it. LOL

For my 7mm STW pushing a 180 Berger, I'd have to put 6 more grains of H1000 to match the speed of my 7828 SSC loads.

I've completely switched everything from 7828sc to H1000 because the most I saw in a couple chamberings was 30 fps difference but I gained a whole lot of temp stability, I'd get 80+fps swings from summer to winter shooting with 7828 which just became way to much for shooting at any distance!

Opposite here....I gained temp stability switching FROM H1000 to 7828 SSC. Almost all of my H1000 loads sucked during summer, that were good during spring, fall, & winter.

My 7828 SSC loads have done just fine in swings, where the H1000 loads failed me.

At the time I didn't have a chronograph. I was going by grouping @ 100 yards went from all touching, to looking like a shotgun with buckshot. Then worked up with 7828 SSC, and those loads shot the same in both summer and winter.

I tried 7828 in my 25-06 AI. I'm with bigngreen; it is not temp stable. I also had very poor ES while using it. Switched to H-1000 and problem solved. Groups and ES are much better. I did get a little more speed with 7828 but it was not worth it. Shooting 7828 in winter it was fine if the rounds sat on the bench in the cold. If I kept them in my pocket they would over pressure.

Just illustrates now each rifle and reloader experiences different results with the same materials.

H-1000 is the goto for 330 Edge but I'm gonna try 7828.
H-4350 is the goto for 260 Rem but many have better success with R-17
I-7828 is my goto powder for belted mags but a buddy gets better results with R-25

For me, it's part of the fun to try different things.

The 338 lapua imp. is custom and loves RL-33. The 338 Lapua is a rem 700 mlr. I have gotten 2825 fps out of 93.0 grs of H-1000. Does anyone know/ have a good load for 7828 sc with 300 gr berger otms. The rem 700 has not shot anything over 5/8 moa for me. I can get speed but not accuracy. I am hoping 7828 sc will do it for me. Rl-25 at 2775 fps gave ALMOST 1/2 moa at 800 yards for me. Just like to experiment with new powders.

I found my old Sierra it has 84 grs as max for 300 gr sierra. I will start at 83 grs and work -up. Berger has less bearing surface than Sierra so the 300 OTM Berger will be faster with the same amount of powder. Thanks for the info. I had been looking for days around the house for my Sierra reloading book

All of my reloading is done for long range, hence posting on a long range forum, there are a couple things that are much more important to me than static close range groups. I've used 7828 a lot but in most things I've gone either h1000 or h4831sc and gotten similar velocities maybe as good of accuracy, where 7828 lets you down is when you try to put cold bore rounds within 1/2 moa of you POI at long range unless your running a temp regression on your ballistics program and have all gear at ambient temps.

Last season I saw a total temp swing of 120 degrees and my point of impact did not move enough to cause me to miss coyotes in the 800+ range THAT is why you see some powders as go to powders on this forum though now through the efforts of many it's barely a mid range forum anymore.
