My boy got his deer this evening at 250 yards with the 7-08 Striker I put together. 1 Shot through the chest with a 154 Hornady did the job just fine.

Tell him congratulations and good shootin', which 154gr was he using? the interlock or the SST?

The Interlock... I played with 168 Berger a bit with the pistol and she didn't seem to like spindly bullets so I went with mid weight flat based pills.. I'm about out of 154 Interlock so I'll go to 150 blem bullets (we've shot some for practice already) or 145 Speer GS pills I've got on order if the barrel's happy with them.

Happy youngster there, Great job. I took a friend's daughter out Thursday and got her a muley doe with my xp100 6X47 remington. Hard to beat the look of a happy kid.

Congratulations to the young hunter!
If you have to drop down to 145's the Speer hot cor is a good option for deer and they were in stock. I couldn't get the GS (160) to shoot from a couple different rifles.

Outstanding! How old is your son? Every time I see a story about specialty pistols and kids, it always warms my heart.
