Yes it is. Keep in mind that the WSM has a single shot follower screwed in there, no magazine, single loader 4 life
I have to stand by the Long Action only for a 6-284 (with heavy bullets at least). When (not if) you start chasing the lands, you're going to have a lot more room to adjust you COAL. AZ, I'm not trying to argue, just voicing my opinion (& everybody knows what opinions are akin to).
Mine is the most used rifle in the safe! Cant say enough good things about it. Use it for almost everything from jackrabbits to deer. I even has a coupe of elk bulld to its credit. Great round!
Another vote for a long action. I built mine on a S&W M1500 (Howa) standard (long) action. They are about 1/4" shorter than the 700 with about a 3.59 mag box. My COAL with the 105's is 3.00.
