6mmAI

std7mag might be onto something…for the fps gain of going to an AI, maybe just spin a 26" and gain +100 over factory 22" and keep my original 6mm dies and brass??? 🤔

Decisions decisions
For the record.
I reloaded for my wife's 243 Win.
100gr Sierra BTSP over RL26 shot 8" higher than factory 100gr Corelokts.

I got several boxes of 105gr Hornady Custom Competition bullets.
Wife's rifle was a 1:10 twist, and Hornady tech told me "no, they will NOT stabilize in a 1:10 twist".
Never had an issue out to 500 yards. Longest she's ever shot.

A friend of mine had the same kunundrum (exact same rifle).
He decided to purchase a barrel (Brux #4 or 5 contour?) and had the gunsmith chamber both his factory barrel and his new barrel. He was lucky enough to find 10 boxes of factory 6mm (all the same lot) and did all of his fire forming with the factory barrel in one afternoon. He brought it back to the gunsmith and he swapped out the factory barrel with his custom barrel and was able to start load development and barrel break in with his new barrel.

I have a Remington 243 with 9 twist and have used the 87 vld for several years with great results. Recently given some 103 gr. and was kind of surprised at how well they shot. Going to try them on deer this year. Maybe fill a doe tag first to make sure they are okay.

Ima thinking 103's are gonna be A-ok on a doe. 😛
