I have a buddy who has a 6.5x300 Weatherby with a nice Trijicon Aimpoint and like 10 boxes of ammo I believe 123 A frame it's been a while can't remember. Anyway he wants to sell me the whole rig really well priced. I don't need the gun but it's a system already and has less than 50 shots. So given this scenario is the gun worth investing even though I know it's barrel burner I have lots more than enough guns to keep me busy so likely I won't use it a much. Thoughts or feedback on this?

I bought a Remington 788 chambered in 30-30 last week. Do I need it? No, Did I want it? yes. So Buy it, keep it in the safe, trade or sell later. With ammo getting hard to find, you may have a great investment.

I don't have a 6.5-300 but have had a couple 26N which is very very close to the same capacity/velocity. That case capacity is s bit too much of a good thing. After owning a bunch of 6.5's I would stop at the wsm sized case. Once you pass that the gains are pretty small, you can get withing 100-150fps of a 26 or 6.5-300 with a Sherman short.

That said if its a good deal go for it, enjoy the flatest shooting 6.5, and wwhen the barrel is done swap it to another magnum of your choice.

That's kind of what I was thinking... change the barrel after to something else. And I already have a 6.5x284 and much less recoil and more ammo not by a lot but more. Thanks for input

I have one I like it a lot killed deer elk and antelope and steel targets. I run 124 hammers at 3530. Kills everything dead. I expect to rebarrel it in about another 300 or so rounds. The wife's 26 nosler shoots the same bullet faster but I have always like the ways. Buy it and shoot stuff with it.

Buy, it part it out and sell the parts to me.............:)

It'd be a fun rig for sure

What will be total round count you'll have got out of it when all is said and done?!?
