Talking with @GLTaylor about building a 264 cal that would be beltless in the 70-80 grains of powder capacity. Need to have good quality and available brass. Thoughts?
6.5 PRC

I had a 6.5 RPM built on a Kimber Montana 84L, lengthened the mag box and added a 24" #2 1-8 twist Benchmark and it's shooting the 156 Berger's into the same ragged hole at 3070 with 65.0grs of R26/BR2 primersAbsolutely is thinking along that line myself
I have this exactly. 6.5 wsm has been great so far. I have used Retumbo and h1000. Everyone is gushing over the 6.5 PRC but Winchester case design is just as good and efficient. 270 wsm brass is easy to form with one pass and no neck turning. Even though neck turning is always good. Dies are easy to come by (270 wsm die with a .297 bushing) and the seater dies work just fine with a 6.5 seater plug. 63gr of H1000 pushes that 147 eld-m to just over 3k. It can be pushed to about 3150 but then the bolt becomes a bit sticky. That's all with a 23" barrel.Necking down a .270 WSM would be cheap way to go and get you really close to the mid 70's powder charge. Probably would not even have to neck turn the brass.
My mistake. It looked good but I did the 25x6.5Prc. The blackbird looked like too much of a good thing. You're thinking of the 257 Blackbird that's a necked down Blaser. The Blackjack is a modified and necked down 7 SAUM

How far are you into it?I have a 338x375 in the build stages , Its a new spin on a 33 Newton
Good morning Fellas , My 338x375 is well on its way , PAC NOR is making the barrel 1 in 9 twist with a 5" chamber , straight taper to .800 , 34" Polygonal rifling , a P17 Eddystone Enfield action set up it's getting a Remington magnum length box installed , a Timmney trigger and I'm waiting for the Brazilian Walnut to arrive for my gun stock .How far are you into it?
Sherman just came out with the 33 Sherman which is a .338/300 PRC Improved.
Nice!I will build two gunstocks from this slab , one for my 33 Newton and another for my 1895 Marlin
Brazilian walnut , this stuff will last 25 years in salt spray & sun with heavy foot traffic ( ie ) the Coney Island board walk !!!What kind of wood is that?
