I'm interested in what the COAL is for various Hammer bullets in the 137gr and 139g- Hammer hunter and Hammer sledge. Will these loads fit in a 2.990 Wyatt's box?

You can go to hammer's website to see how long their bullets are to give you an guestimate of how long the overall length can be. That being said, for my action (short action CA, I know the factory 143 ELD-x is about as long as my box can hold). This means that I could likely not fit anything longer than a 120-130 Hammer. I think the ELDx is max 2.955 COAL which makes me think the 137-139 hammers would not fit in your mag but im just guessing.

That is disappointing to hear. My 6.5 PRC with 140gr Accubond are COAL at 2.815. I'll have to find their length and compare on the Hammer Bullet site I guess.

I guess I could have done my own internet search. The 130gr Sledge H is 1.323", and the 124gr Hammer H is 1.393". However, the 131gr Hammer H is 1.486 and the 139gr Hammer S is 1.42".

The 140gr Accubond is 1.368" so it compares with the 130gr Sledge I guess and maybe the 139gr Hammer Sledge if I'm lucky. So much for the short action 6.5PRC if you want to use some of the heavier bullets.

I just loaded some 137 Hammer Hunters (and others) in 6.5 PRC to 2.990" (X-bolt mag length) and they seem just fine. They definitely sit down pretty far into the case, but the bearing surface is centered right in the neck. I don't have a method yet to measure distance to the lands, so it is what it is for now - looks like it's a bit of a jump.
