6.5 prc analyzed

So I guess the 6.5 PRC & the 6.5x280AI is very close in performance if both are chambered in the right action & chambered properly in a way that maximizes performance!

I am using a 7.5. if you have plans to shoot heavies like the sierra or berger and you are anywhere near sea level I would use 7 or 7.5

6.5 PRC 1 in 8 here (that's what was available from the Smith when the order went in). Haven't done too much load development yet, but first load I three together with the 147 ELD-M shot great .

Interesting read. Certainly a cast of characters on here. Bought the Christensen MPR in the PRC and have been very happy with its performance. Shoots both factory offerings great. The 147s are just a little more accurate. The cartridge fills a gap for me. I'm sure that it's not for everybody.

With all the guns out there chambered for the 6.5 PRC and built off short actions, wouldn't we all be hearing complaints from those owners about the PRC round being too long to work in the mag if it were a real problem? I'm not sure I've heard that from anyone who actually owns or uses the product. If I were building a custom rifle chambered for the 6.5 PRC I'd just have it built with a Wyatts CFE-05 mag box or use the Accurate Mags if I wanted a DBM. Artificial crisis averted.

A couple of the PRS shooters I know have guns chambered for the 6.5 PRC and they all shoot them out of Accurate Mags with no issues. These are the type of shooters who will drop a product the first time it costs them a match and so far none of them have had an issue. One of the guys is on his 3rd barrel, so it must be working pretty well for him.
