6.5 LRM

[Short Case]

I'm thinking about building a new 6.5 rifle in 6.5 LRM
I though maybe someone might have build one and
I could see what they though of it and if they were still using it.

I know someone on here has one. Either a 6.5-300 prc or a 6.5 LRM. I remember reading about it. Might be a little easier to get the 6.5 Sherman mag reamer from them.

I'm not interested in the prc or the Sherman, I'm going to build a 6.5 LRM or a 6.5 / 300 Norma and most likely it will be the LRM

The 6.5-300 prc is pretty much the same as an LRM. But a Norma is a different beast, probably a 300 round barrel, would be cool though

I'm guessing you already have a bunch of 7lrm brass? It is a good case design for sure but the hornady brass sucks! I was lucky to get some adg brass just before I sold my two 7lrm's and it seemed way better.

I wouldn't bother with a 6.5LRM, I would do a Norma Improved.
I have an affinity with 416 Rigby based cartridges, the powder capacity and shoulder size being wider, helps protecting the throat, 35° and 40° angles work best, but for really large charges of powder, a 45° works the best in 30cal and larger protecting the throat and better powder burn.

I had a 7mm/300 norma for 4 years and I love that gun and I should of keep that one, I'm not hunting Elk any more I'm getting to
old to be going up and down in Colorado mountain and 7mm/300 Norma is to much rifle for what I'm hunting these days, the
6.5/LRM with 130 grain to 160 grain bullets should be just right for my flat land hunting in Missouri and Colorado

The guys at unknown munitions just did a 6.5/7prc improved. Prob 2gr behind lrm capacity. From a 20" pipe it's moving 147 eldm at 3100fps with a full case of N570.

I have always been a fan the lrm design.

A 6.5 SAUM or a 270 WSM will do what you want with no fuss no muss.
6.5 SAUM 140 gr Berger EH 3243fps
125 Hammer Hunter Tipped 3380 fps
156 Berger EH 3100 fps

145 ELD-X 3300 fps
170 gr Berger EH 3050 fps
Both with 26" barrels.

I'm not interested in the SAUM, but I appreciate it. I already run 140 Berger Hybrid Targets in my 6.5 Addiction over 2930 from a 20" barrel in short action form. I hit mild pressure at 2998 during the heat of the summer and dropped it down for year round shooting without having to worry. Looking for another longer action cartridge for my other hunting rifle.
