does everyone agree here that being next to a guy shooting a elk with 6.5 creedmoor in then recovering Those elk (more then 6) is same experience as shooting it myself i mean i even hand loaded the rounds for couple of the 6.5 used. I mean how stupid can you sound. ive been around more elk killed with 6.5 creedmoor then you have killed in general. Why old saying goes with outfitters ive killed **** ton of animals just havent pulled the trigger. Again experience you would understand that

I think I'm gonna hunt one of my elk tags this year with a 6 Creed just because. At least it's not the dreaded 6.5! But in all seriousness a 105 VLd or 108 EH out of a 6 creed takes the life out of critters remarkably fast.

Says the guy that's never killed an elk with a creedmoor.

🤡🤡🤡🤡

Most of us have never killed an elk with a club……but, we're all smart enough to know that a club is not the "ideal" weapon with which to hunt elk!

Sorry WYO300RUM, but the arrogant ignorance of some bring out my worst traits! memtb

Hey look, the over emotional creed haters are still here.

Keep clutching your pearls karen.

You people are so emotional over an inanimate object that nobody is forcing you to use. Keep that in mind when you lose your schiet over a cartridge...

Nothing against the 6.5 Creedmoor, love a 264 Win Mag,but the 6 Creedmoor peaks my interest. From what I can tell the long range contest shooters around here are mostly shooting 6 mm rifles now.
We have one, excellent calibre on smaller sized deer and extremely accurate. Using 24" 1-8 barrel with 103gr ELD-X @ 3,000 fps.

Wrong velocity is old idea. Go watch some videos on what kinetic energy does to animal.
Bullet design yes. Bullet mass yes center mass even more. Thanks again proving you dont know anything
Kinetic energy is mass x velocity squared/2 so this means velocities have twice the effect than our projectile weight. I am totally excluding bullet construction here, so going from 2,800 fps to say 3,200 fps a 14% greater velocity then we get 31% more energy with the very same projectile. Why I use a 6.5 PRC over the Credmoor and that's not to say a 6.5 CM isn't suitable for plenty of game when used within its limitations. There's some seriously emotive and irrational discussions happening here, just saying....
Every tool has its use, the very best hunters I know use enough rifle to do the job no more nor less.

higher mass of bullet will have more sectional density that penetrates through. My point being high speed isn't everything. If it were muzzle loaders would be worthless. Which makes the creedmoor worthless in elk hunting. No weight class of bullet with no speed. 6.5 prc is better gun i still wouldnt use it elk hunting. Had good fall bear incident with a guys 6.5 prc this year.

Edit: I always go more. If im hunting elk 300 yards i want 500 yard elk gun if im hunting 1000 i want it to be lethal at 1500. Why i shoot lapua improved and 33xc

I recently had a 6.5 creedmoor put together. The two smiths in the shop asked why the 6.5, I told them I planned on a 6 creed for coyote & predators but went 6.5 so if my recoil sensitive girl friend draws an elk tag it would be better with the heavier bullets than the 6 they proceeded to tell me all the stories about how the kids and wifes of customers, friends and family had successfully killed elk and other big game animals with the 6 creed. If you know your limits as well as the guns they will get the job done. Of course this fall I will be packing my 28 nosler or 300 rum unless nostalgia kicks in and I take my dad's old 270.

There is a local guy (outlaw) that has killed more deer than most people have seen with a .22 rimfire rifle. He was a commercial fisherman and would shoot them from the boat a night. Just because he killed a ton of deer with a .22 rimfire doesn't make it a "deer" cartridge. No, I have never hunted or killed an elk, if I were to hunt them I'd carry my 30-06 and only shoot at reasonable ranges. I limit my shots to 300 yards or less on deer with my 260.
