I haven't run a 6.5 Grendel from a pistol but I have been shooting a 19" 6mm BR Striker for about 6 years with excellent results. The Grendel would perform equally well from a short barrel given how similar it is to the BR case.
As far as a CZ 527 in 6.5 Grendel, I had a19" barreled 6.5 Grendel built on a 527 a couple years ago and CZ started offering them about a year ago. It's a great little package. You could buy a stripped 527 action from CZ (they're hard to get but are available) and build a SP on a 527 action. You'd have to get a stock custom made and work around the magazine system used on the 527 which is integrated into the trigger guard/bottom metal.
If you're a decent designer you could come up with a chassis style SP stock which would accept either a blind mag box or take AR mags and have a repeater SP in 6.5 Grendel. I had a buddy design a CZ 527 chassis for this specific purpose but we never finished up that project and made one.
