I'm having a 6.5 GAP 4S Rifle build, the chamber has .0800 free bore and .2962 neck. It has a 24" Stainless Steel barrel with 1.8 twist. I'm going to use ADG 6.5 SAUM Brass with Sierra 130 gr Tipped GameKing (Gamechanger) bullets and H4831 SC powder with Federal 215 Primers. Does anyone have any recommended starting loads for the H4831 SC powder?

From a previous thread on LRH:

The GAP 4s / 6.5 PRC forum on Facebook has more load data than you can read

https://www.longrangehunting.com/threads/6-5-saum-load-data.194809/

The Hodgdon H-4831 SC was never my choice for loading either the 140 gr or 130 gr. bullets in this cartridge. This covers 20 years of shooting both competition and hunting. Then we used H-1000 in order to stay under the velocity limit for PRS competition. Currently I use Re-25, Ramshot Magnum and VVN-160.

Read George's reloading data on Facebook. I don't belong to Facebook so I'm no help.

:)

I have a 6.5 GAP 4S that I bought from Len Backus on LongRangeHunting. It's a 6 lbs. 10 oz. Mountain Rifle, Pierce Titanium Action, Manners Superlight stock, 24" Bartlein Barrel, gill brake and flush detachable mag. Shoots Copper Creek 156 Berger's at 2850 fps and .5" groups. I stoned two raghorn bulls in 2019 in Wyoming and Colorado with this set up, both DRT, ranges were a whopping 150 and 250 yards! Zero recoil and a pretty light rig with a Leupold VX5HD 3-15 scope on it.

I have a 16" 6.5 saum that I use 57.3 of MR4000 with 123/130's. H4831sc is only slightly faster…so I'd cut from there and work up.

Oh, I'm not using a mag primer so…there is that too ;)

If you can find them CCI 250s and F210Ms have worked better for me with my SAUM than F215Ms. The 6.5 PRC has slightly less case capacity but is pretty close to the 6.5 SAUM so looking up published reloading data for the 6.5 PRC should give you a reasonable starting point for load development with different powders.

AR2213 SC (H4831SC) will certainly work, but you will get a better result from AR2217 (H1000). Unless you are sitting on a heap of the faster powder and cannot get the slower, try the slower.

You don't need the 215M's, use 210M's. I have a tack driving load with H4831SC and 140gr Berger VLDs. 56.4gr (work up to this) however 55 could be a good starting point with 130's. The rest of my loads are heavies with Retumbo. All with GM210M primers.
