6.5 creedmoor barrel length

Hi every one, have a rem xp100 in 6.5x284, I built about 15 years ago. 16" bull barrel, 10 twist, shoots 120 at 2850, and 100 barns trex at 3150. Gun groups about .4 moa, a real blast to shoot. It still is about 10lbs with 3x12 Burris scope on it, but easy to pack.

I run a 21" bbl on my 6.5 creed sheep rifle. I run lapua brass, a stout load of H4350, and 143 ELDX. My gun scoots at 2865 with the 143's with an SD of 3. I have no issues with the short bbl on my creed. Accuracy and energy are both there at 900 yards+ for its intended purpose.
Do you mind sharing stout?

I've decided to buy a 6.5 Creedmoor for hunting deer, antelope, pigs and maybe a yote sometimes. I really don't like a 26" barrel and I know I give up some performance going to a 24" but it's worth it to me. I went to the gun store tonight and fell in love with a Sauer 100 Atacama. The problem is, it only has a 22" barrel. What's your thoughts on a 22" barrel in a 6.5 Creedmoor for hunting deer and antelope? Sometimes those can be longer shots. Should I stick to a 24" or would I be okay with the 22"? Thanks in advance for any input.
I recently came across what I thought was a very good article online from Gun Digest ( wish I had kept the link....daaaah) where the writer brought in a 28" 6.5 and cut it down 1" at a time. He stopped at 18" ( must have more money than God) his findings ...27 fps SD / inch. I hope this helps

N-n-n-negative 25°F??? Tell Santa and the reindeer hello for me. Screw that. It was 73° in Phx today. Shorts and a t-shirt outside at 6:30am.

For the record: I hit pressure with Lapua brass, and 43.1 gr. of H4350, with 140 AMax and CCI450 primers. And Lapua brass can take some pressure...
Speed was 2764 FPS - out of a 24" Shilen barrel.
Just remember every barrel is different and YMMV.

Where I run it is:
Lapua Brass
CCI450
42.6 Gr H4350
Speed: 2735
SD: 4
Accuracy hovers less than .5 MOA
