6.5 CM or 260 Rem

Why not a .270 Winchester. We've built a half a dozen that shoot the Berger 170gr EOL bullet at 2960fps. Tack drivers, low recoil, use it all day long on elk at 800yds. 2000fps and 1600lbs of energy at 800.
Interesting that's almost the exact ballistics for a 300 WSM with a 185 Berger. And does it a few grains less powder too, I guess.

I said it would get the job done. It's still not ideal. A bad hit with a 22-250 doesnt give a heck of alot of room for error. Especially since he stated a range of 800 yards. Good grief that little 80 is running out of steam at 500 yards. I know a couple people that have tried them on deer and eventually gave up on them. At least up north here where the bucks can dress over 200LBS. But hey if it works good for you more power to ya. Whatever floats your boat!
I did not state 800 yards. But I shoot 1000 yds with it on paper and steel.

So what I've learned so far from this thread:

1. Tons of people can't read or stay on track.
2. You need a 750gr Amax to kill an elk.
3. Lots of gullible people on this site.
4. Please refer back to #1 and remember this for future post.

Hornady lists the 143 ELD X for their precision hunter ammo as having 1308 ft-lbs at 500 yds. with 2700 ft/sec out of 24 inch barrel. I am getting 2750 ft-lbs out of my 26 inch barrel and their data is for sea level.. so will be a bit faster at 8000 ft elevation and have a bit more energy.

Me thinks you may be butthurt because people who know the capabilities of both rifles you ask about told you that you are delusional.
