Last weekend, I took the first round of test rounds out. Since it was a new to me powder, and from reading positive experiences, I loaded up StaBALL 6.5 test rounds.
I was delayed getting on the range due to a match that was in progress. It was 98 degrees when I got setup, and 101 degrees after the first 4 rounds, so I packed it in and went home. I returned the next day and got setup earlier. I was able to shoot all the 140gr bullets. The first test shot Saturday was with the Speer GD but they did not group well at all and I didn't retrieve that target.
The H'day SP's and BTHP's should be redone as it was getting uncomfortably hot and sweat was getting in my eyes, so those loads were a bit rushed. The rifle was not cooling down well and I didn't fire the test loads under 140gr bullets. I will at another time.
I was pleased with the Sierra loads. For some reason, I manage to throw one shot out, it doesn't have ANYTHING to do with my age or eyesight........................
I'm not sure when I'll get out next, this heat and drought we're going through is not very pleasant and I'm in need of standard LR primers. I have magnum LR primers. I'll post more results when they're available.
