6.5-.300 Weatherby....or 26 Nosler.Define " barrel burner"
58.0 RL26 & 140 should be more like 3100-3150+. I got 3160 in a buddy's rifle with that exact combo from a 26" barrel. 56.0gr RL26 got me right at 3000.A 6.5 SAUM (6.5 Gap 4S) can run a 140 VLD or hybrid at 3,000 with about 58 grains of R26, and you'll likely get at least 2,500 rounds on your barrel before needing a setback.
See where others are getting 3,000 out of the PRC with 56-57 grains R26.
Im running my 6.5 Saum at 3150 with 140 Berger Elite Hunters. I had it up to 3200 with no pressure signs using 143 ELD's. I have been using H1000 and Tubbs HBN on the bullets.Im building new rifle and wanting to shoot 6.5 140 VLDs just under 3000fps. My question is, what will give me the most barrel life at 2900 to just under 3k. I have been looking into the SAUM, WSM, PRC. I am sure there are others out there, I am wanting to stay with a short action. I an no expert but I think the answer has to do with pressure differences.
