I doubt it's not legal here in Texas. The 22 caliber rule for deer went away years ago. I can't recall if the rim fire rule still exists or not.
Any way my dad missed one at just less than 15yds yesterday and we had one at 5 steps 20 minutes later at a different set up, but came in silent and was on us before we were comfortable.
Getting the close shot is what you will have to do and I would think you'd have a dead turkey with a head shot at 20 yards or less.
This is my second turkey I got with a single shot 410 using #6 shot. I stalked her amongst the trees for a head shot.
After skinning and cleaning we got not quite 5.5 pounds!
For those saying "no" or "get within 10 to 15 yards", ya need to catch up with a thing called TSS (tungston super shot). https://www.fieldandstream.com/ammo-review-tungsten-super-shot/
The .410 is now a viable 35 yard turkey killer.
Progress is a good thing!
