$3k Rifle setups

I really like the PH2 other than the barrel length. It may not be an issue for your style of hunting. If you eventually want to shoot with a suppressor, 26" can get a little long. Browning X Bolts come in a wide variety of configurations.

Did a budget build on this .257 Bee and it drives nails with the 135 Berger and any powder. It was a cool little put together, and my kids love it.

I just went through this and ordered the Seekins Havak PH2 in 300Win. Went back and forth about the 300 PRC but having dies, and the ability to easily source a wide range of factory ammo tipped the balance. I'm still working on the glass. I'm going back and forth between the Zeiss V4 4x16, Toric 2.5x15, Trijicon Tenmile 4x24 and a NF NX8 2.5x20 (all SFP). Load work will start with 200g Accubonds and 210g LRAB.

Sounds like you were in the exact position!
I am between the 6.5 PRC to keep it a deer gun, or 300win mag to have it for elk as well. Like the idea behind the low recoil in the 6.5prc but everywhere I have read says when you put a brake on the 300 the kick is not bad.

The 300 isn't bad at all, but each person is different. I'll say I'm not a small guy, so the recoil effects me different than someone who may be 5'8" and 150 lbs.

I have a sako s20 in 300 win mag. It is about 11lbs scoped and with an Axiswork 5 port brake my recoil sensitive 11yr old can shoot it comfortably, and my 8yr old also shoots it without problems.
