Lucky dawg! I've been searching for that prize for years now. I shoot n load for a 300wby now and everything hit is DOA (up to deer). Have possibility for Elk now and maybe Alaska in future (have the best friends that help!) is why the 338/378. And "Just Cuz". If anyone has a deal for sale pm me. Price is top factor as I live on a tiny VA income... Again AWSOME deal, I'da talked to my Banker without hesitation to not pass that up!

Good to see you got it. I would launch some hammers out of that thing. They seem to not care about jump. The extra freebore may not even affect those.

If it were me I would pull the reloads and reload the brass myself. Just want to know for sure what's going down the barrel of my gun.

I just bought some Hornady 230gr ELD and i have a couple lbs of Re#33 . I will be pulling that ammo also .

Great deal! I sold one last year for $1200 minus a scope. I did give him 3 boxes of ammo with the rifle. I sold it to buy a .416 rigby. The rigby w/brake kicks more but not unbearable. Congrats and enjoy.

.416 Rigby seems a bit much for those 80lb. whitetail deer wouldn't you agree? Seriously what do you plan on hunting with such a beast?

Any reason I shouldn't consider this a great deal ? For long range shooting is the 338 Lupua a better cartridge ?

If you don't want it please give me the information and I'll buy it. I like the Lapua better and that's probably the reason the rifle is being sold. I have a .338 lapua AI.

I don't know what I'll ever hunt with it ? I just love long range rifles,always wanted a WBY MarkV,came across this deal and no way was I going to pass on it. Its in my gun safe now.

Hi thats a good round. I have an A Square .338 Excalibre it takes ballistics a bit higher or equal to the 338/378. Cheers

The 416 Rigby is excellent on charging cotton tails..............and when that 410gr RNSP makes contact, those cotton tails jump about 12ft in the air!! True story!!

The first animal I took with my 338-416RI was a 40" bull water buff here with a 300gr Berger OTM. The bull dropped to his knees and never rose again. 2 finishers were used, but they weren't really necessary.

You will be overwhelmed how quick it will kill Elk/Moose/Bear if you get the opportunity.

Had a Wby 338-378 and it was a beast! It dropped any animal I hit solid in it's tracks. I currently shoot the 338 Lapua and it's not nearly at fast as the WBY. Good buy! I still might have brass and dies for it. For a while, it was king of the 338's.

Dang, you guys are studly for sure. I shoot a .338 WM with a 250 grain LRX and that caliber, with that bullet with my handloads, it WILL get your attention....And will take down any North American animal and beyond...…..That is a Great Deal, Iron Worker.....Killem'…..Killem' all.

If I was building from scratch I would never choose the 338LM not because their is anything wrong with it at all other than cost and weight of most actions factory chambered for it in some instances. That said if you are getting a great deal on either I would say jump on it. I would not build a 338-378Wby either for the same reasons. The brass is going to kill ya for either and loaded factory ammo is no joke either. A great deal though is a great deal and they seldom come around twice!

I have never owned any of the various versions of Weatherby actions but I have shot just about every type from Commercial Mausers on up that Roy used before designing his own and all of the versions built in different places for Weatherby. I have never came across one that did not work and cycle smoothly or one that did not have great finish and fantastic wood. My favorite action would have to be the Howa made Mark V actions.

Only about 1/2 of the ones I have shot had their original barrels on them. For a long time you really only saw serious hunters with them and as you would imagine it does not take long to burn out a barrel if your shooting one regularly.

It is not hard to believe 20rd count. The recoil is fierce for many. So you have two types of Weatherby owners the guys that buy them and only shoot them rarely due to recoil and ammo cost and the guys that travel the world hunting every chance they get. The lighter weight smaller diameter cartridges that are not as punishing to shoot are the ones that are most likely to be burnt out.

.338 WM with 69 grains of IMR 4350 with a Barnes 250 LRX gets 2,850 F.P.S. out of my Ruger #1. Of course that gun is all barrel..@26" because of the lack of action space.....Being a falling block...Killler IMHO.....It has a Burris Fullfield 3X9X40......I know some of you will bash that scope , but it is so clear ….I like......It has with stood that recoil for about 10 years and counting.....Bad *** Set Up if there ever was one for Elk...…...

My favorite cartridge. Use the heavier bullets, that's where this cartridge shines, 250 grain plus! I have had success with the 300 grain Berger's and H1000 or Retumbo. Norma brass is great, have reloaded 6 times. I'm not loading to the extreem edge and my current 338-378 has a custom Lilja barrel which helps with brass. Try brassmanbrass for once fired weatherby brass.
