Push feed will do everything a CRF will do

Except feed upside down...

In all seriousness, that is one of the reasons for CRF being a requirement with some I've been told.
I guess if you're flat on your back with a 400 pound lion leaping at you from 20 feet away this might be a consideration.

But I certainly "get it". Modern push-feeds with a good extractor (gimme an M-16) are extremely reliable, no less so than CRF's in my experience.

There's also the extraction strength issue. Those big heavy duty CRF extractors tend to do that job a little more "certainly."
