I've got some 200 grain hammers on the way and only have H4895 powder. What range should I load? Factory 200 fusions are running 2900 in this gun and shoot really well. Looking for a similar load.

From Hodgdon. Pretty light load looks like:

Yea, Hodgdon is giving 57gr for both Varget and 4895 for 180 and 200gr bullets. Appears they didn't even try to find loads for the Whelen.

I'm pushing 225 tsx to 2700 fps with 59 gr of reloaded 15. Have some 220 hammers I plan to try out as well.

Load development done. Only took 14 shots to get a load. They are jumping a mile too. Es for these 3 shots was 5 fps.

You missed the dime you were shooting at. ;) Pretty hard to complain about 2855 with a 200 grain bullet and only needing 59 grains of powder to do it. The Whelen is a GREAT performer on game and a lot more long range capable than most give it credit for.

I had one bullet left. Used the Hammer estimated BC and dialed up 2.6 mil and centered a 10" plate at 500 yards. Should be good to go for anything I want to shoot.
