I'm using a NXS 5.5-22x56 NPR2, It has a Rifle Basix trigger, and a Vais muzzlebrake, don't know if the altitude is doing all that xtra fps or my cheap Chrony Master might be lieing!! but this thing really shoots

Thanks Skidly, i,m ordering Elite 4200 6-24x50 Tactical scope, i,ts new but i heard good things about it. Also new trigger ether Timney or Basix, i,ll try youre load H1000[100.4GR and 225AB, happy shooting, later, Dan. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
I have build a .338 RUM on a 700 rem ation and I used a 30" Pac-Nor barrel with three groves and I have a brake on it.I get with a 180 AB 3600 FPS using 4831SC 97grs. a 225 SST 3300FPS using H-1000 98grs. a 300 SMK 2975 FPS using Retumbo 93grs. I shoot 5/8" groups at 200 yds.The barrel is where you will give the vel. with a case this big, to burn all the powder.I also use a V-block to hold the long barrel in the stock ,so not to stress the action to much. With the V-block the barrel and the action are both free floated in the stock ... much better groups. Just my 2 cents Tim
My best load is 100grs of H1000 and a 225 gr AB at 3115ft/sec
with a 27.250 barrel. It will group .412 @100 yrds.
The hot'est load is 102gr H1000 @3236ft/sec, But the groups
open up to an average of .750. (caution this load may be to
hot in some rifles).
Varmints 3300 with a 30" tube and 98grs h1000 seems about
right .So with a 26" barrel you may be near max velocity and
you may hurt your accuracy if you load up much further.
3000ft/sec + is a good neighborhood with a .338 225gr AB .
