I am resurrecting a very old thread for some opinions. Just made more sense than starting a new one😉

Need opinions on a Load I was using for my 338RUM?
BACKGROUND: 26 inch 3B Bartlein barrel 5R. ADG 338 RUM brass. 250gr accubond, 95gr H1000 and CCI250 primer.
I am getting an average velocity of 3,020FPS at the barrel. This seams high!? Accuracy is quite good at right around 1/2 MOA. This is just getting started at breaking in the barrel(within 20 rounds) There are zero pressure signs!
QUESTION: do I keep this load or back it off a grain or two for brake in and shooting? just seems too good to be true at that velocity. This rifle will be mostly just for hunting and very little target shooting.

by my cheap chrono i was getting 3,050 with 250 accubonds and 106gr of RL33. I need to shoot it with my magnetospeed to verify. its a 26" rem 700 with a brake.

That's good to hear. I was using a magnetospeed. I don't think I will worry about changing my load than.

My current load in my 338 RUM:
- 285 gr Hornady Amax
- 93.3 gr H1000
Velocity: 2930 FPS

Having a 30 inch barrel definitely helps with the velocity! As always, please work up in your own rifle.

It's likely that no further discussion is required, in which case we recommend starting a new thread. If however you feel your response is required you can still do so.
