338 RUM load success with 285gr BTHP

Wow 2805 with 300 grain bergers? I'm going to have to give RL33 a try. I have some loaded up with Retumbo for testing. I dont think I'll get that kind of speed though.
Update, I am loading 100 grains of RL33 with the 285 Hornady ELDM, velocity is 2920, at 70 degrees, around 2880 at 45-50 degrees, I am about 10 thousandths off lands, but I have a little trouble determining exactly where the lands start compared to jammed. I have a Wyatts box that allows me to seat to 3.825 OAL. My 300 gr Berger is 3.800 OAL with 99 gr of RL33 at 2830 and the 300 gr Accubond is also 2830 with 99 gr of RL33 with a OAL of 3.720. I am now using Betram brass with this gun.

I just brought my 300 rum to the smith to have my 338 rum broughton barrel screwed on, the 300 barrel is toast. I want to run some 210 gr swift sciraccos in this gun or maybe TTS, anyone have any recent data for the lighter bullets?

I had a factory XCR II that piled 225 grain TTSX into little clusters loaded with 89.3 grains of Norma MRP in Nosler brass. Velocity was just under 3100 fps. I have no experience with the 210s. I tried several bullets in that rifle, and although I got several other bullets to shoot decent, the 225TTSX/MRP combo was by far the most consistent day to day.

I have to update my velocity with the 285 eldm. My barrel must be broken in now. I changed primers to Fed 215 because I was getting some hang fires with CCI 250's. Based on drops I am running 3040 fps with 100 grs of RL33. I just got my #2 338 rum back from the smith and ran some factory 225 accubonds for unimpressive accuracy. I have some 210 scirrocos loaded up to try with 96,97,98 grs of RL26 and federal 215 primers. More to come!

I believe the hang fires are related to the deep primer pockets in Bertram brass. I had one hang the other day in BB 300 RUM brass. It's the first time I have seen it happen in several thousand CCI primers fired.

I believe you might be correct. I just received two new firing pin assemblies from David Tubbs and hopefully the hang fire will go away. I am pretty sure I missed a very nice mule deer because of a hang fire a few weeks ago.
