That is the way I thought Canhunter a Rem 700 action alone is that much.

I'd think 28" would be pretty good overall. With mine, I wanted to milk plenty of velocity out of the round and went 30". Primarily built for long range steel and occasional hunting in very open areas. All loaded she tips the scale at 13.5lbs.

I'm pretty sure mine is threaded 5/8x24 - brake is a 5 port self-timer from Piercision Rifles. Works great!

Thanks I have a Cadex brake I want to put on my build. That is a sharp looking rifle you have there.

I recieved the rifle in the mail this week and it looks realy good to bad it is not meant to stay a 270Wby for long. This has really got me wanting to get my RUM built though. On a side note could I put the Wby barrel on my Sako.

I have a 30" Benchmark Carbon 338 Rum on a Remington action running a 300 gr. Berger Elite Hunters with a good dose of H-1000 and its running @ 2884 ft.per.sec..shoots lights out too !

I'm a big fan of the Mark V and have a couple semi customs built on it myself. Have fun with that 338! Keep us posted and be sure to add pics.
