338 lapua

I may use it on deer, but I wanted to get one for elk at long range in Colorado, looks like a heavier gun will be better to help absorb recoil. I just like the look of the chassis guns. But I don't want to pay for a McMillan. Cover? Beats me, my first Colorado hunt will be this year, here at home I have lots of places to kill deer between 100- out to 1500 yards

If I were you I would shoot one first and see what you think.
Believe it or not a 20lb 338 is a fun gun. A 12lb 338 is a lil less fun. Shootable but not necessarily fun. Everyone's recoil tolerance and what is FUN, varies.

What part of Missouri are you in? I'm pretty close to SW MO if you want to try one.

Re: 338 lapua Savage Stealth

I just ordered the New Savage 110 BA stealth should have it in hand Next week. I got to check it out at shot show and got a good price so I wanted to give it a try. Its not a MRAD but I'm going to give it a try. I will be looking and watching to see if anyone else gets one to see what they try and put on theirs.

I think I would like to put a different stock on it. I was thinking of the Magpul MAG308 but not sure if it would fit.

Re: 338 lapua Savage Stealth

If you can let me know what you think of the savage with the factory stock, fit, feel, recoil, accuracy. Your imputed will be very valuable.

Sounds good I will do my best to get some time on it as soon as possible. Sometimes easier said than done with two jobs and a family.

Savage 110BA Stealth in 338 lapua

I dont have the gun in hand yet but I was able to get some more info on it.

Talking to Savage they are not making the magazines for this one which is a change from the past and they said they do not have any and likely wont stock them. The magazines are made by MDT = Modular Driven Technologies. Spare magazines for this rifle are not available yet, they are expected to be available by the end of February. When they are available you will want to ask / look for this: 3.850" AICS 338LM magazines, also referred to as 338LM AICS CIP. MDT has a website and you can purchase off their site. Price is not set but should be similar to the other .338 magazines around $70 which is much less than previous 338 mags from Savage.

On the Butt-stock I was thinking of replacing it with the Magpul (MAG308) which allows for the attachment of the monopod. The magpul stock is designed for fixed applications and you would need an adapter to go from the savage m4 adjustable to a fixed.

Doing some more looking the Butt-stock on the savage is made by FadDefense. They make an add on to the butt-stock which has a built in monopod. The add on is $60-80 so a much less expensive and easy upgrade to get a monopod on the butt-stock. So I think I'm going to keep the Butt-stock as is for now and try it out. I was able to find some fairly inexpensive ammo so that I can try the gun out and break it in hopefully this week or next.
