338 Lapua vs 300 Norma

No personal experience with the 210 but my calculator says a 210 @ 3150 mv will run out at 1500 almost identical to the stats on my 250 @ 2950. Wind drift per a 5mph wind is also all but identical on these. The 300 grain @ 2725 which is where my accuracy with these were only gets you to around 1600. 5mph wind drift is a little less than 1/2 min of difference at 1500 for all three. Between 12 and 1300 yards the 300 catches the 250 velocity wise so it does carry more energy. The rule of thumb I always try to stick to is 1400fps and 1000ft-lbs minimum. .02

Hi Ernie!!!

and TIS non rotating cups and sling, 2 AICS 5rd mags

230gr Berger Hybrid 2920fps 90gr RL33 Norma brass, fed champion Mag primer
12.4lb with one loaded mag minus bolt as it is at Greg Tannel getting bushed and cleaned up. :)
under 13# loaded and field ready.

we are putting in for Wyoming speedgoat points to beat current hunting party record of 917yds. I personally am holding at 855 with my 6.5x47 Lapua and built this to go over 1k.

Getting my 300 Norma up and ready...ordered a McMillian game scout with a adj comb for my mark 5 yesterday. Should come in around 9lbs loaded...here my last load with Norma MRP and a 225 ELD-M...think it will work.

At 1000 yds them goats just might out run that thing Mark. lol
Id be using 190s with about 97 gr Retumbo on them. But have fun and find a nice one.

I have owned and shot numerous 338 RUM and 300 RUM which are VERY close to said rounds and the 338 rum is noticeably more potent, both in front of and behind the rifle. My 338 rum tries to rip my gong right off the stand at 1020 yards. Definitely a noticeable difference in power. And if i was going to build a dedicated elr rifle it would absolutely be no smaller than the .338
