338 Edge with suppressor

I run a 22" Edge with a 338 Ultra suppressor. 230 Eldx at 3170. Very manageable and not so long for hunting etc. Here's a thread on shorter barrel 338's unless a longer barrel is just what you want.

Thread 'My mission to find the best short barreled big 338!!!' https://www.longrangehunting.com/threads/my-mission-to-find-the-best-short-barreled-big-338.330760/
I read though this and was pretty helpful. My suppressor requires at least a 24" barrel though. You build some awesome guns! Are you shooting anything 250 and above??

I'm not the builder. Just a receiver. I have not tried anything heavier because of the shorter barrel. Was willing to give up some bullet weight for velocity.

Gun looks great! Did your son use the 338 to take that ewe? Are you single feeding it?
That was the first time I let him shoot it due to more significant recoil than what he is used to but in the heat of the moment he didn't even notice. It's a BDL and I load to mag length. As you know, everything in this game is a tradeoff but for me, having an operational magazine for hunting was more important than the gains I would see in velocity. I got lucky and it still shoots bugholes with the bullet jumping just a little to the lands but that is something that I wish I would have thought about in advance to have my gunsmith account for when cutting the chamber. My preference would be to load to just a couple thousandths off the lands at mag length.

Good for you kid! thats awesome! That's good idea. Maybe I'll talk to my smith about doing that. I was just going to single feed. I have just a chassis with aics magazine.
