I guess if your stuck on a 225 or 250 bullet I would just put a 300 Rum together.

I have a Remage 26" 1/9 twist OMR Carbon 300 Rum and it shoots the 245 gr bergers lights out at 3010 ft.per.sec. with NV-570!
maybe another option?

Good luck going to a RUM on a STANDARD size Rem 700 action…it will not fit even if you change bolts, neither will a standard magnum.

You need to start with the correct size action first.

I built a 338 Edge, performance was OK, nothing to write home about to be honest.

33 nosler (I'm running now and love it)
33 Sherman mag
338 rum ( also had one and worked on a couple)

Throat a 33 nosler properly and it a great round! The 33 Sherman mag runs identical to the 33 nosler when @khoutdoors and I compared our two rifles.
I went 33 nosler since peterson makes brass for it otherwise I would not have gone that way.

I like the RUMS.
But 338 cal. It would be a
338 Lapua Mag. Ai. 35 or 40*
What ever you do you will need another reciever for the Big Dogs.
