With the brass available now I've been thinking about putting my barrel back on. 30" 1:9 throated for 300's
That could be interesting. Schneider is just 60 miles down the road and we know each other so I may have him turn me some barrels. They are twice as high as anyone else's just for a blank but I've never seen anything shoot as well as his barrels. With the brass available now I've been thinking about putting my barrel back on. 30" 1:9 throated for 300's
So far so good. I love shooting this cartridge. H4350 has been great for me. With 250gr Berger EH or Accubonds 2952 is about my average fps right now that my barrel has settled in. No pressure signs or issues other than I'm still running the Hornady brass which is good for 3 - 4 firings before primer pockets go. I know Jasnt has had good results with H1000. I haven't loaded with h1000 yet as I'm saving what powder stash I have left for my 300wm. Hopefully in the near future though.I know this is an old thread but if Swampr is still around or anyone else who built a .338-375Ruger has any updates?
Same brand dies I'm using In 338/375 Ruger. I was surprised they had them in stock. I've had zero issues with them and nothing but great results.I have the reamer and I have a set from ch4d dies I know some people bash them but I have had good luck so far with their dies I have a set of 7-375, 30-375, and 338-375 sets
You might try looking for some RWS 8x68 brass if you haven't yet tried it. Really solid brass in my experience. With h1000 I was getting 2830 with 300 gr but my chamber is stretched out .080" longer than the straight neck down of the 338/375 ruger. That gave me about 4% more capacity and then I throated it for 300's to sit just above the doughnut. Load was hard on the norma 8x68 case I used. Might just need to Oder some of that 300prc brass from adg and get it fire formed
I love mine getting ready to try the 230 eldx and see what velocity I get out of themCurious as to any updates for any of you guys shooting this variant of the 338-375 Ruger.
my Sherman 300-375AI will be on the way in a couple of weeks so the 338-375 is about all I have left to build to have my 375 Ruger variants complete.
What twist rate you running? mine has the 1-10 mine loves the 250 berger it's running them 2855 with 7828ssc and great accuracy. 26" #4 brux barrelI'm still very happy with the one I have left. I played with some of the heavier bullets in the 270-285 range, but keep coming back to the 250s as the perfect weight in this case. My gun likes the 250 SMK, but the 250 Berger is a great bullet too. I tried the 230 ELDx, but they never shot as well as the 250 SMK.
H4350 is still my favorite powder in this case, but other powders will give better velocity. I played with RL 26 but wasn't happy with the accuracy. I know another shooter who had great luck with H4831sc.
I still have a 338/375 Ruger reamer if you ever want to borrow one. It's a zero freebore reamer and then I just used a throater to match the bullets I wanted to use in each of the barrels I had chambered.
