I have to wonder, why didn't you look into the .300wm as you can shoot a 200grn bullet with enough velocity to kill and elk at the ranges your looking at and be able to get ammo anywhere at a decent price when compared to the WSM ammo? I know nothing about the .325wsm and i'm sure it's a great cartridge, i'm just confused by the posts on this site, some talk about how good a .260 does on elk and others think you need nothing short of a .338, I often think people argue for what they own and shoot. I think you'll be happy with the caliber you shoot well, if that' the .325 or something else, good luck with your choice and if you can't decide buy all of them it's just money, lol.
I believe that you can kill an elk with a 25-06 if you know the limits of your rifle. The reason no one has mentioned the 300 WM is because he didn't list it and therefore is my belief that he ruled it out already. So I just went with what he wanted. Is a 260 rem a good elk cartridge? Sure but I believe there are better, ESPECIALLY at longer distances.
