.308 AR Barrel

be very afraid of the wc 308's (or it might be just wilson)! if it states "rifle length gas", you might be in for a rollercoaster ride! if you build it yourself if where the issue lies. getting the correct gas tube length as another forum there's guy that went thru many lengths (pun intended) to get a correct length. rifle gas length doesn't match dpms or armalite and sometimes doesn't match their own as it changes. either it was on this forum or sniper's hide? good hunting!
The WC I ordered is .223 Wylde not .308 - still problem with that you think or just the .308 model? I can easily return it, its from Brownells and they are decent to deal with on returns usually.

Interesting info apparently for the Wilson Combat .308 AR Barrels:
The Wilson 20" 308 caliber barrel will require the Wilson 15.5" rifle gas tube.
Not the standard rifle gas tube which is 15.125" commonly used with other manufactures.

The 15.5" gas tube will not work with standard rifles either. It will not allow the BCG to fully engage.
Gas block size is 0.875"

It is not just with Wilson Combat barrels. 15.5" is the original Armalite length. There are some tubes that are 15.2" & 15.3". The 15.125" is for AR15 use. You want to pick the longest one you can find for best performance. It should reach no less than 1/2 way into the cam pin recess or even better 3/4 into the recess. ____SORRY, I GUESS THIS IS OFF TOPIC.

Good info. I have not heard that before, thanks for the 411.

wc doesn't post good info about which gad length they have for that specific barrel as it has changed. whether the block size is larger or smaller it doesn't help having a straight or bent tube! so, gith dpms, aramalite and wc there could be just 3 different rifle lengths, but wc has had and still may have 3 for their own? wc might even supply the wrong length when or if you order from them? it has happened before! i'm sure they make great products, but their ar10/lr308/etc is nuts! makes me wonder if they just drill/ream the gas port in the wrong place?
