300wm. What bullets should I shoot?

Just aquired some 200g accubonds and will give them a try. Got a handfull of 210 Bergers too.
Thanks for all the input.

Just an FYI, I found the 215 Berger Hybrid to be a little faster than the 210 VLD's in the 300 win. with less powder charge. Also a substantial gain in BC , easier load development, and superior terminal performance. I would not overlook these advantages.

Anyone had any issues with hornady SST's.??? I personally don't use them but know a few people that do use them for hunting. To make a long story short, I'll say we've experienced a couple rodeos
I have used 180 gr. .308 SST on deer and antelope. 2500 MV resulted in

  • whitetail hit at 100 yds. ran 40 yds. before it dropped
  • antelope hit at 300 yds. - DRT
  • antelope hit at 350 yds. - ran 40 yds. before it dropped
All were hit in the boiler room - no shoulder shots. Both lungs ventilated & part of heart gone.

Overall I am happy with this bullet.

All on small animals and great shooting !! I'd be happy with your shooting skills. Any bullet will work when you hit them good. ! It's on bigger animals SST don't do well IMO

Thanks! My shooting actually needs allot of improvement. All shots were in well supported positions. At the same time I am familiar w/ my limitations & shoot accordingly.

Unfortunately, I have no experience shooting at bigger game - hoping to go elk hunting, but at best that will be next year.

What I am kind of thinking of doing is get the Berger 215 dialed in and shoot them as a single shot. I plan on working up a different round with as close to the same POI and the Bergers that I can that will fit in the internal Mag for the close/med end work. Not that I dont think I might be able to get both out of the Berger's, more of a just in case. I have only one more month to go before my bonus check comes and rifle will be ordered. Savage LRH 300 win mag.

lightbulb208 Hornady A-max is also very nice, and the 210-g Berger VLD. I would do a test and also shoot the 215 Berger and use the one with the tightest group. It's not always about what you want but what your barrel likes.gun)
