300 WSM in long action, feeding question, factory or single stack

I'm kicking around building another rifle. If I follow through I'll probably do a 300 WSM on a long action. I would guess a WSM would feed in a long action BDL magazine, but I've never tried it so not completely sure. The other WSM's I have are factory except the 270 WSM I'm working on and I fitted it with a Wyatt single stack.

With that said I'm not above going with an aftermarket 5 down extended magazine but I'm not a fan of extended magazine. But also never had one in a bolt action that I can recall, either.

Was just discussing this with a guy this morning. He suggested to keep it a short action because wsm can be picky but I would very much like to run a long action so I can seat the pellet waaaaaaay out

I agree on seating further out for 220 grain BT's and etc. My stubborn hard head tells me single stack Wyatt long action magazine would feed a WSM with the magazine lips adjusted. Not so sure on feeding a WSM with a BDL magazine. I bet somebody has or knows.

I have a 300 WSM on a long action and it feeds great with single stack mags. No work needed. I use both AI mags and Hawkins flush 3 round mags.

FWIW, my Tikka 300 WSM feeds far better with a LA bolt stop and a Mountain Tactical LA mag.

No No No. I have a SA with an extended box and have trouble with the OAL and trying to keep it at the right length from the lands where it shoots best.

When I was building my 6.5/25-300WSM's on Win Model 70's, the rounds fed from the 3.4" mag box 90% of the time without issue, but some had the rounds pop out before they went under the extractor, fiddling or changing the follower fixed it. Using the windowed mag box in all builds was necessary.
Building on a REM 700 LA required making a mag box spacer and changing followers from pressed steel to cast and polishing them.
Building on a REM 700 SA meant a Wyatt's box and other fiddling to the follower spring.
