300 WinMag Loads W H1000, 4831 ...

I'm going to help my buddy build a load for 300 WM. Looking to shoot 180 grain Accobond and hoping to use H1000 or 4831SC as I have both on hand.

Any advice you can give me to steepen the learning curve here? We don't have a ton of time before a shoulder season cow elk hunt and I am hoping to hit paydirt as quick as possible.

The most accurate load I have found with H1000 and the 180 Accubbond is 79g in Winchester brass. My 300 WM likes Magnum powder much better. As I've stated in other threads, I have also found terminal performance to be better with the Accubond at 3000fps or less.

Mine likes 80.0 grains of H1000 behind the 180 grain Accubond in Federal brass. That combo gives me 3080 FPS from a 24" barrel.

In all honesty, I would not look twice at the 4831, it just doesn't get the velocities before pressure reaches max.

I load for so many 300's that I really only have 3 powders that I test with, RE25, H1000 & RETUMBO.
Of the 3, 90% of the time H1000 is the most accurate, BUT, I find RE25 to be just as accurate in some of my barrels and it is always faster by a good margin, mostly around 100fps.
Now, I am not a speed demon, but if a powder groups the way RE25 does in some of my 300's, then I'm gonna use it.
I have not found it to be as temp sensitive as the interwebs makes it out to be. YMMV.
180gr Accubond with 81gr of RE25 yields 3166fps in my Kimber 8400.
180gr Accubond with 80gr of H1000 yields 3060fps in the same rifle.
180gr Accubond with 84gr of RETUMBO yields 3248fps in the above rifle.
My Rem 700 LR also runs 180gr Accubonds with 80gr of H1000 that yields 3142fps.
Both rifles have 26" barrels.
