I just looked at the hammers. All the bullets you showed would be good I think except the accubonds. I had 2 bad experiences with them. I shot a huge bull elk in Canada with a 30 mag loaded with 200gr accubonds. A Manitoba elk is a bigger sub species. All the guides said my bull was over 1200 lbs. He was around a hundred yards away. lung shot to the opposite shoulder. It froze him up but I am a shoot until they are on the ground type. Next was a high shoulder shot. Knocked him down but he pushed himself back up with his front legs. Now I am gobsmacked. I couldn,t believe it. High shoulder shot again which knocked him over but still windmilling so a final in the brisket to the spine ended it. When we field dressed him the lung shot there was a hole through the size of your little finger with a bruise around it the size of a ping pong ball and that was it. hmmmmm In my opinion they were opening too fast and spent too much just getting inside. That is the last accubond I have ever used.

The other was a 150 ablr in a standard 280 with a max charge of 7828. Call it 3000fps. I was just meet hunting. A spike whitetail around 200 yards. aimed tight above the heart. It really whacked him but did not go through. Whaaaat? Last time I used them too.

If I was going to use the trophy bonded I would use the tipped boattail. I would be afraid of the standard opening if it got too far away. Federal has a new bullet out called the edge tlr. Looks like the best of both worlds. long range slippery but solid shank bonded. Be my choice or a heavier NP

If you are considering a 30 cal Mag maybe this will help.
In order of magnitude (Power) this is where the 300 Weatherby stands (Except for wildcats that have to be loaded for).
300 Win Mag
300 PRC
30 Nosler
300 Weatherby Mag *
300 RUM
30 x 378
I would look for availability of Ammo and price If you don't want to get into re loading, then look at the ballistics of each and decide just how much you want/need.
If you decide to re load this information will also be helpful in making your decision.
Probably the best and least trouble cartridge would be a 300 Win Mag even though I prefer the RUM my self. (I reload) the 300 Win Mag is readily available in different firearms and so is the ammo. It will do go for all game in north America if the right choice of ammo is used.

You can load the 215 Berger in your .30-06, .300 WSM, .300 WM, and .300 WBTY. I am a heavy bullet fan so IIWY, I'd try the .230 Berger on the WBTY.
The only load I have for my .338 WM is with .225 NAB.
I have a .30 LARA built to propel the 230s but have not had a chance to do much shooting/load development with it yet.
(L- factory ammo with 180 SP, R- .30 LARA with .220 Hornady ELD-X)

As far as bullets get on you tube. (Randy,s custom rifles) He is old now but a lifetime hunting in WY. Excellent video of him explaining bullet performance.

Ditto....though, unless your heart is set on a Weatherby.....a "plain ole" .338 WM is hard to beat. And.....ammo is pretty readily available! memtb
I couldnt even count on two hands,all the guys Ive know and hunted around with 338 win.My high school English teacher was his main rifle,by the time he was in 60's he was still hitting backcountry.He had shot elk every year since 12 years old.He hunted before roads and clear cuts happened in areas I hunted,his stories where priceless.

My wife is pretty fond of her's, she's used it since '96. A neighbor lady of ours, watched her take a cow elk about 10 years ago. She told me that she wanted some of those "magic bullets" that my wife was shooting!

I'd say to get the 300 Weatherby that you started off wanting. There used to be an old saying - If you need more gun than a 300 Wby then you need a lot more!!

I had a 300 WBY and ended up selling it for a 340 WBY. The 300 was just Brutal to shoot. A dded a break which made it better, but the 340 was more pleasant to shoot in my opinion. Had a 7mm as well and liked it better than the 300 also. At the time, I never found a great load for the 300 due to the throat being so long. But now, there are bullets better suited for jump and or long throats. I like the WBY rounds, but like them more on a custom build where you can make things exactly the way you want them. In a factory rifle, I would go with a different round. 300 WBY kills stuff dead fast though. Just hard for me to find a good load for it in the factory chamber.
