My Father-in-law inherited an old short barreled rifle chambered in 300 weatherby. The barrel is either 20 or 22 inches long, sporter contour, and the barrel is not stock. The cartridge stamp looks like a drunk person with stamps and a hammer took a whack at it. Shoots ok. He wants to get on board with the LR shooting and I suggested he rebarrel to 26" to get more HP out of it.
To keep it simple for him, I was thinking of keeping the SAAMI spec chamber just in case he wants to buy ammo (only I reload). Thinking a #4 contour and threading for a break. Just fishing for some other ideas.
