I'm a newby with reloading and could use some feedback. I've got a REM 300 RUM LSS factory barrel w/brake, H&S stock and really struggling getting the 212 ELDX to shoot well. I have always shot the factory Remington 180 grain Scirocco with good results three shot group all touching @ 100 yards. I can't get the 212 ELDX to shoot any better than 1.5 - 2 inch groups at a 100. Tried some factory load 220 ELDX with the same results. Is it possible that my gun just flat out hates the heavier grain bullets?

In a few cases I have seen certain barrels not shoot a particular bullet well and then love one that's similar to it. Ex: ELDM rifle loved, hated TMK. Those are pretty similar bullets one shot 1.2 inch groups the other shot .4 inch groups. Similar grain weights on those bullets as well.
Haven't changed the seating depth at all. I'm very green with this stuff so I've kept it very basic, the overall cartridge length is 3.603 if that helps. I've been trying to source the tools to measure the lands but can't seem to find anything available. I apologize in advance to anyone trying to offer help, I realize I've got a ton to learn. My hope is to source some 180-190 gr bullets to try

Changing the seating depth of a bullet can tighten up a group. So if you can get tools to measure your lands that will help you know how far off the lands you're.
Also how did you come up with your powder charge? You said you have tried a few charge weights which one shot the best?

Good suggestions above with seating depth. I have had multiple rifles that wont shoot the EDLX bullets accurately. I have had 2 rifles that shoot them good. Some rifles don't shoot some bullets. EDLX's are not very uniform compared to some other bullets and the Ogive is further forward causing them to be seated deeper in the case, both of which contribute to their inaccuracy IMO. I always try them since they are cheaper and more available (at least they were) than other bullets. The rifles that shoot them well the bullets have done a good job of killing close and far for me.
It seems that the hotter loads shot better, the best group if you could call it that was 91.5 grains but I never seen a drastic improvement in any of the other loads. there was never a time where I felt that I was making any significant gains in accuracy.
I got a 300RUM and it loves the 220gr ELD-X BULLETS. Mine is a 1 in 9 twist barrel. All of mine are touching bullets holes from 100yrds to 800yrds. Have had no problems with mine.

It seems like the eld-x either shoot well or the rifle hates them... I have both in my safe... play around a bit more with them with a bit of variance in seating depth and move on if you don't get success. Sometimes a very slow burning powder will have a bit softer launch and get a rather soft pill like the eld-x to shoot. Have you tried any of the 50 bmg powders?
