300 RUM build.

Planning the same build as you(may change to a 338 rum). Currently have my action and mcmillan gamewarden stock. Now just to decide on going proof barrel or a #4 or #5 contour. If going 300 rum I'd look at 210,215,230 grain Bergers.

212 gr eldx 91 gr retumbo 28" lilja barrel 1-10 twist vias muzzle brake 3155 fps. Trued Remington 700 m-16 extractor nightforce 5.5x22 moart. Very accurate gun the avatar pic is it, its my latest long ranger.

MPA with Crux Ti action, carbon 6 barrel Trigger Tech set at just under 1.5lbs VX6 HD shoots in one hole if I could shoot better , the shot group was break in 2 nosler brass n 1 Remington with 212 Eld-X 3190fps with retumbo. Shot this deer at 400 yards bullet performed awesome complete pass through. Can't wait to see what it does on my elk hunt next week.

A few years back I picked up a Stainless Sendero changed the trigger to a timney and the stock to a Stockystocks green thumbhole, put on a set of talley lights and a old Vx-3 6.5 x 20 x 50 . Broke in the barrel with two boxes of 150 corlock 's and jumped into the factory round Nosler 210 ablr. Entered in a long range course my first at any thing over 800 yrds.Had a blast at the Shoot ! I rang steel at 1400 yrds with that rifle . My group I was with just couldn't believe it ! Oh and no Brake either . I was tender on Sunday lol .
It was a favorite Rifle for sure !

I haven't tried anything yet as I'm getting mine put together now. Starting with factory anmo. Precision hunter with the 220 eldx. Went with a factory take off barrel to see if the chambering is for me. If I like it ill spring for a good barrel and dies. If its too much the action and stock will end up with a 28 Nosler barrel. Hoping for a mid weight hammer. No more m24 contours and 15lb rifles for me.

Don't discount takeoff barrels. I built a couple rums from Rem 700 long range. Just fluted the barrels and bolts, added some other goodies and they shot great. Just took them out today again with my adopted nephews to 651 and 798 today and they had a blast. Nothing wrong with takeoffs :)

I want to say 8lb 14oz. I just disassembled two days ago to sell. I prefer heavier rums like the one below. It adds about 1lb with the fluted Rem varm contour and a bit more forgiving to shoot. I'll put the barrel up for sale here. It's a CA, 26" 1-10twist. Took it out to 1400yds and it loves 225elds and r33.

Sucks to carry, but stable as heck for long shots. Absolutely hammers elk and anything else you point it at. My family has killed as much elk with this rifle as all my other rifles combined. Seems to be the go-to during elk season. Although my 9lb 10oz 7RM is catching up in the head count race now, it will probably never overtake the .300RUM for total game taken.
