300 RUM build.

In the middle of my build. Got my X-caliber 26" on the way.... purchased a stainless BDL action.... so who has tried what? And what worked best for you?

Great project....
For all round use I like the 180gr Accubond at 3440fps. Light enough, tough enough, and fast enough to impart good shock at closer ranges and still accurate to 1000yds where I'm getting better than 5" groups.

I haven't tried anything yet as I'm getting mine put together now. Starting with factory anmo. Precision hunter with the 220 eldx. Went with a factory take off barrel to see if the chambering is for me. If I like it ill spring for a good barrel and dies. If its too much the action and stock will end up with a 28 Nosler barrel. Hoping for a mid weight hammer. No more m24 contours and 15lb rifles for me.

I just picked up a old Remington action . I'm thinking about a 28" 1/9 twist Proof and a light Mcmillian Game hunter . Timney or a Trigger tech . I built a few 338 Carbons and just love them .
I'm going to run the 230 bergers in the 300 rum .

Here is the 338 Edge I'm hunting with this fall , it was Amazing on my Spring Bear hunt . My wife and Son both use stock 300 Rums .

The hammer 181 would be a very good choice for that. No chance it fails at high speed. But will open on longer shots better than a Barnes.

My current hunting rifle is a 300 win equipped with a H.S. precision stock, nightforce and M24 profile Hart barrel and Shawn Thomson brake so I know exactly what you are saying. Even though it's a bitch to pack, it's also the smoothest shooting platform I've ever had. I chose the sendero profile for the RUM build. Also had it dimpled.... Maybe save a pound or two but mostly want the stability I'm used to.

I'll definitely check that out. The RUM shooters I know all use Berger 185's

I'm working up a 210 Nosler ABLR load for my RUM. Due to short barrel life this will only be used for long range elk and may take it to a mile just for fun.

Everything else I shoot with my 7Mag & 168 ABLRs.

210 ABLR, 212 ELD-X, 215 Berger have all been great shooters. Of those I really like the ABLR.
