Yes it true, the hybrids often don't care where they are seated. On quite a few occasions it works, Just seat to fit and feed from mag box and check if bullet is not deep into lands (kissing is ok) and work up a powder charge. From .165" to kissing lands many chamberings did just that. 6mm 95 classic hunters two 6mm-284s 105 hybrids 6 BR and two 6mm-284s, 215 Bergers in 308 and 300 RUM, 230 Berger in 300 RUM and 300 WSM, 168 classic hunter in four 7 rem mags, and two 338 RCMs long throated and regular throated with 300 gr. I am sure there are more but it is all I can bring up off the top of my head.

Yes the 215's are very easy to develop a load for. My 300 Rum was just rebarreled to a 338 Edge. I put 1700 rounds through it and to say the throat was eroding would be a understatement. I never had to change from my original 30 thou off the lands. Even with that many rounds and a bad throat it would still hold 3/4 MOA out to 700 yds. So in the end I don't know how much jump they had but it was a lot from the original COAL.

QuickLoad says Ramshot LRT exactly maxes out peak pressure (64,798 kpsi) and case capacity (100.7 grains at 100.2%) for a Berger 215 loaded to 3.800" in a 300 RUM, estimating muzzle velocity at 3,038 fps. In my experience you get a little bit of free accuracy (decreased ES) from full cases. I have loaded the Berger 230 OTM to 3,000 fps with LRT, same sort of numbers, no signs of pressure, shoots one ragged hole at 200 yards. Consider LRT with these bullets and a 300 RUM.
