Need some help. Have a box of 189 grain Hammer Hunters on the way. Wanting to try these in my 300 PRC CA Ridgeline. Have RE26 & H1000 available, and Federal 215 primers. Looking for some help with a starting point for both these powders, and also any idea of how deep to seat these bullets. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've only got Hammer data for my 30Nosler and the 152gr & 181gr Hammers so I'll leave data recommendations to others. However, maybe I can help with seating depth. Many shooters here on LRH have recommended .020"-.030" off the rifling. My experience indicates that there are other very good options because the Hammers aren't particularly sensitive to seating depth.

I would start by seating a Hammer bullet to a depth that maximizes bullet grip in the case neck. If you decide that you want to crimp (as is often recommended) then I'd consider aligning the case mouth with the highest groove on the bullet. Note: some crimp on the bullet shank and don't align with a groove.

Lastly, I shoot all of my Hammer bullets about .100" off the rifling. This was determined by maximizing case neck/bullet contact. I have found that sub .5moa accuracy can be found with this amount of bullet jump.

FWIW - RE26 was very accurate in my 30N with the 181grH bullet.

Good luck with your PRC.

There's tons of data for the Win Mag on the Hammer Hunter load data thread. Case capacity is very similar to the PRC. pick your powder (RL 26 is a good one), drop back a bit and work up.
Please post your data when done.

I had a Ridgeline 30 Nosler that also shot the 181 Hammers with RE 26 extremely well. I don't remember charge weight, but I would start with 26. I think you'll get more speed out of it compared to 1000.
