300 Norma initial testing

So by what you are saying there is no real benefit unless N570 is in hand to swap from H1000 or Retumbo??
According to the chart yes.. its three points slower than h1000. I'm actually going to test H1000, retumbo, rl33 and 570 side by side in my 300 rum 338 lapua improved to see exact gr per velocity gains. i shoot them all but never in an actual head to head comparison before.. I did have two loads for a 7rum/195.. built one with RET and one with 570 that were identical in drops out to 1200 yards ill see if i can find those notes. To me the 570 isn't worth the hassle of not available all the time unless you have/find enough to last say 1000 plus rounds and don't want to share with other rifles ha ha. I do shoot it in big stuff because of the density and its on my shelf for those rifles only.
I do know its hard on throats and I can say it is super dirty from my experience and really if I can I shoot h1000 I will.. ha ha its not the fastest but dam you can count on it being exact every time, just like you can count on the Dems being complete morons!!

It wasn't that bad man I would think it was prolly in 14-15 lb range scoped. The one in my aviatar is my newest norma from Gap on a surgeon XL and she is a chubby girl. With that Schmidt on her prolly pushing 20, but man a pleasure to shoot and it shoots very well. And that KMW stock is easy to get behind. My favorite Norma yet I think.

Alright, here's the report from the first range day with the 300 Norma conversion in my desert tech srs a-1.
Shot a ladder test at 622 yards. Mostly was trying to determine where pressure would be, and get a ballpark tune, looking for flat vertical and velocity nodes. I don't get really serious about load development until the barrels got around 100 rounds or so and is settling in.
ES tactical 300nm 32" barrel
Lapua brass (virgin)
HBN coated Berger hybrid 215's
Fed 215 primers
VihtaVuori N565 and N570 powders.
LabRadar chrono.
I ran the N565 powder up to 3207fps at 86.0 grains with a couple of promising flat spots around 84.0-85.0 grains average of 3158fps. Never experienced any stiff bolt and had very very faint ejection on the brass.
I ran the N570 up to 3363fps! Again NO stiff bolt and faint ejection marks on brass. 87.5-89.0 had 2.5" of vertical dispersion and 89.5-91.0 had 1.25".
I'll analyze things further and decide where to go from here. Here's some pics...
sweet build by the way

So I went out and validated yesterday's test. Yesterday the best vertical was around 89.5-90.0.
Today I shot groups at 621 yards.
N570
89.6gr-3260 fps avg
89.9gr-3263 fps avg
90.2gr-3268 fps avg
Sweet flat spot with an ES of 8fps over .6gr of powder.
SD's for all three were single digits.
Groups were good with tight verticals of 3" or less.
Orange dot is 2".
