30-284 / coyote / gallon milk jugs

The wound on the back matches the description he gave also...there's really no reason to ******** us.
But tell one lie gotta tell a hundred.
I knew something didnt sound right when he said he shot that far with a 155 A-max and killed it. That's just not smart. Its transonic at that point and it's only got approximately 100 ftlbs of energy more than a 17hmr does at the muzzle. Completely unethical. I get this is a long range site, and I do my fair share of long range shooting but each cartridge/bullet has its limitations. People like this guy give the rest of us a bad name

I thought so too, the 155amax had me wondering as I'm like why not the 208? but first he called them a ballistic tip

I was thinkin he was full of it when he's claiming 3400fps with 155 out of something with basically same case capacity as 30-06

For comparison sake my 30/06 Mauser where's a 27.25 inch #5.5 contur ss Hart 1/10 twist bbl ,with a max reload of H4350 & 155 Sierra Palma match king it Cronographed 3070 fps over my friends 100 dollar crono ,175 SMK did 2910 fps,168 SMK did 2965 . by my thinking the op should have gotten 3100 /3150 fps... my heavy Mark Chanlynn 308,,,,,,, 28 inch 1/10 twist BBL l pushed a moly coated Speer TNT 125 to 35oo fps backed it dwn 1 grn and it did 3450fps &.318 at 100 yds. but im still not seeing how the op did 3400 fps with similar case capacity so I looked them up ,source Barnes #2 reloading manual, 308 ,W-W-C 53.53 case capacity of water , .284 w-w-c 64.59 cc of water ,and 30/06 w-w-c 68.01cc of water . Somethings just not right... OP any suggestions ???

This is the load:

Case: Lapua 6.5-284 necked to 30-284

Primer: Winchester WLR

Powder: H-414.......62.0 grains - compressed

Bullet: Hornady 155 gr. A-MAX seated .007 into lands

Velocity: 3,400 fps. from 30" Lilja 3 groove barrel

The velocity doesn't sound too far out of line with what I saw in my 30/284. That would be a very hot load though depending on seating depth. What was your OAL with the 155 A-Max?

For those that call BS, try a Google Image search. I think you'll find your answers.

2.982" doesn't leave much bullet shank left in the neck with a 155 A-Max (probably around .200"), but if it works for you then go with it!

OP, I was going off your 29 inch info on pg 1 of your post pages , now you say it's 30 inchs ,either way that's one Hot Unsustainable reload imho.Is it really possible that a 3 twist can be faster then a 1/10 twist ? I'm asking because I've never owned one !

I want to hear about the killing power of this round at greater than 1800 yards using the 155gr A-Max. You boasted about it on the other forum and then conveniently pulled a Hillary and bleach bit your post when called out on another outlandish doe kill which had two different stories (chambering and range of shot). You seem to kill deer in the subsonic zone quite often with a round that has the killing power of a 22LR.

If I'm misinformed my apologies but I'm only summarizing what you've stated in the past.

BTW, I know of no one who hunts with a 30" barreled rifle weighing roughly 30 pounds or more unless all your hunting is from a bench.

Twist rate is 1-10" with a 3 groove barrel, meaning only 3 raised lands...

Most of my long range shooting has been from a wood or concrete bench. Gun is carried from the truck to the bench and set up from there.
