30-06 to 6.5-284

[Rogue]

I have a Remington 700 LA ADL currently chambered in 30-06. Don't use it much and considering building a 6.5-284. Want a long range Antelope / Target rifle.

I have a HS Precision PSV 107 stock and plan to have it inlet for the Badger M5.

Considering the 6.5-284 because of the action I already have, the availability of Lapua brass and a stunning history of accuracy.

Your thoughts??

A 6.5-284 or 280AI both would be great for you. You could also look at the Sherman long action cartridges. Good luck

6.5x284 will work fine. But I also encourage you to research the 6.5 Sherman. It's a long action cartridge based off of the .270 Win. Simple to neck-down, and easy to fire-form brass for. Good quality cheap .270 Win brass can be found just about everywhere.

Go for it! Or design/build your own wildcat and call it 6.5 Rogue.

6.5-284 if your set on the 6.5 bullet. my choice would be the good old 284 with 160 class bullets.
both will use quality Lapua brass and both are very effective 800 yd. cartridges.
the 284 will offer a little better barrel life but that shouldn't be your major concern

Several of the F-Class boys here shoot the 284 and love it. I have a 7mm and another 30.06 but have never owned a 6.5. Not sure why, maybe all the articles I've read, but the 6.5 sounds like a winner to me.

FEENIX I am going to start research on the RLRUM (Rogues' Long Range Ultimate Magnum)!! A 7mm sabot loaded in a necked down 50BMG case. The plastic sabot will be shed upon leaving the bore sending an unadulterated high BC bullet screaming downrange at some ridiculous FPS while not putting any wear on the lands due to the self lubricating nature of the polymer plastic sabot!!! (Patent Pending)
